Äidit tekevät arvokasta työtä. Heiltä kuitenkin vaaditaan paljon, koska hoidettavana on yksi tai useampi ainutlaatuinen ihmisen taimi. On sitten perhetilanne mikä tahansa, niin arkeen kuuluu loputon määrä työtä ja vastuuta. On sitten biologinen äiti tai sijaisäiti, yksinhuoltaja tai suurperheen äiti – joskus varmasti jokaisen äidin huokaus on, että saisi edes joskus aikaa itselleen niin jaksaisi taas paremmin arjessa.
Lapsista on paljon iloa ja he tuovat paljon väriä elämään, mutta silti jokainen äiti tarvitsee välillä kannustusta ja virkistystä. Vaikka kuinka nauttisit äitiydestä, niin lasten tarpeiden täyttäminen vie sekä henkisiä ja fyysisiä voimia. Joskus voi tuntua, että pyykkivuori kasvaa ylivoimaiseksi, aina ei jaksaisi laittaa ruokaa, aina ei kykene olemaan läsnä ja joskus lapsen kanssa valvotut yötkin kostautuvat.
Mitä äidit oikeasti haluavat?
Onneksi on olemassa äitienpäivä, jolloin yleensä viimeistään äidit saavat huomiota ja kiitosta vaivannäöstään. Usein suomalaisilla on tapana antaa äitienpäivälahjaksi kukkia, suklaata, kirja, vaate tai koriste. Ajatus on lahjan antamisessa tärkeintä ja varmasti mikä tahansa yllätys piristää.
Mutta nyt kysynkin, että olisiko joskus tarpeen ajatella mitä esimerkiksi väsyneet kotiäidit oikeasti tarvitsevat kipeimmin? Olisiko todellista rakkaudenosoitusta miettiä millaisella lahjalla voisi todella auttaa ja kannustaa ystävä-äitiä tai puolisoa jaksamaan työteliäässä elämänvaiheessa? Itse olen joskus osallistunut ystävien kanssa yhteisiin lahjoihin, kun ollaan annettu esimerkiksi lahjaksihemmottelulahjakortti yhteiselle äitiystävälle. Yleensä vastaanotto on ollut oikein positiivinen ja ilahtunut.
Elämyksellinen hengähdystauko äidille
Kukapa äiti ei ilahtuisi ajatuksesta, että saa hetken hengähtää ja nauttia jostain itselle mieluisasta hetkestä. Henkilökohtaisella hemmottelulla voi olla pitkäänkin näkyvät vaikutukset. Lapsetkin varmasti aistivat, jos äidillä on hyvä mieli. Hyviä hemmotteluvaihtoehtoja ihonhoitojen ja hieronnan lisäksi ovat vaikka antaa lahjakortti kylpylään, liput mieluisaan konserttiin tai vaikkapa maksaa jokin mielenkiintoinen kurssi. Ja aina parempi jos äitienpäivälahjan antaja pystyy järjestämään lastenhoidon hemmottelun ajaksi joko itse tai jonkun muun läheisen kanssa.

Miksipä ei mahdollisuuksien mukaan suotaisi äideille jotain virkistystä kaiken kiireen ja työn keskelle? Siinäpä pohdittavaa, vaikkapa näin kevään ja äitienpäivän lähestyessä. Äidit go!
