Olen aina ollut innokas pelailemaan erilaisia pelejä. Pienestä asti olen pelaillut niin lautapelejä kuin tietokoneellakin. Pari vuotta sitten poikaystäväni ehdotti pelattavaksi pulmanratkaisupelejä tietokoneella ja niistä saimmekin mukavan yhteisen harrastuksen. Varmaan vuosi sitten kuulin huonepakopelistä ja olin enemmän kuin innossani aiheesta. Olisihan se mahtavaa saada kokeilla ratkoa pulmia ns. oikeassa tilanteessa! Jostain syystä en vain koskaan saanut aikaiseksi testata kyseistä pelimuotoa.
Viime viikolla asiaan tuli kuitenkin muutos, sillä poikaystäväni oli järjestänyt minulle yllätyksen ja suuntasimme yliopistonkadulle etsimään kyseistä paikkaa. Tommin tuntien emme heti löytäneet paikkaa, eli tilanne alkoi ”oikein lupaavasti”. Ehdimme kuitenkin ajoissa sovittuna aikana paikalle. Vähän alkoi jo jännittää, kun menimme tavallisen kerrostalon käytävään ja löysimme toisesta kerroksesta Live exit games – kyltin.
Oven takaa avautui pieni eteinen, johon jätimme päällystakit ja kengät. Saimme heti alkuun opastuksen huoneessa toimimiseen. Vihjeitä ei tullut paljon, joten alku oli meille ihmeen hankala. Ajattelin pulmia vähän liian tietokonepelimäisesti ja jumitin oman ajatteluni vähän ylipohtimiseen. Yritin ajatella pulmia liian hankalasti, vaikka välillä ratkaisut olivatkin ihan nenän edessä. Onneksi huoneessa pystyi tekemään monta asiaa samaan aikaan, eli ei kuitenkaan jäänyt koskaan täysin jumiin.
Alkukankeuden jälkeen peli alkoikin sujua vähän paremmin ja ratkaisuja alkoi löytyä. Mutta ei kuitenkaan tarpeeksi nopeasti! Kello kävi, emmekä olleet lähelläkään ulospääsyä. Siitähän se paniikki vain nousi. Vaikka kuinka yritti kilpailla aikaa vastaan, kello ei antanut armoa. Ja niinhän siinä kävi, että aika loppui ja hävisimme pelin.
Näin jälkiviisaana olisi tehnyt monia asioita eri tavalla, niin kuin varmasti moni muukin ajattelee pelin jälkeen. Oli hauskaa, että saimme kuitenkin ratkoa pulmat loppuun, vaikka emme selvinneetkään annetussa ajassa ulos.
Kokemus oli kuitenkin sanoinkuvaamattoman mahtava! Haluankin ehdottomasti kokea samanlaisen joskus uudelleen. Live exit games – yritys olikin juuri saanut valmiiksi toisen huoneen, missä selvitetään ongelmia laboratoriossa. Jospa vaikka saisin joululahjaksi uuden huonepakopelielämyksen.
